Leaker Says Battlefield 2042 Release Date is Being Delayed

Battlefield 2042 is one of the year’s most highly-anticipated games, marking the franchise’s return to a present day setting and its debut on next-generation consoles. There’s a great deal of hype behind the game, and many fans have been looking forward to playing it in October. However, rumors have been going around that Battlefield 2042 may not meet its planned October 22 release date, and could actually come a little bit later in the year instead.

This is according to leaker Tom Henderson, who has accurately leaked Battlefield 2042 news in the past, including the game’s use of natural disasters. Henderson’s sources have indicated to him that the Battlefield 2042 release date will be pushed back by “several weeks” instead of months, meaning fans should still get to play it by the end of 2021 and won’t necessarily have to wait until 2022 to get their hands on the game.

The new Battlefield 2042 release date is estimated to be somewhere around late November, which would put it just after the Call of Duty: Vanguard launch and right before Halo Infinite‘s release date. It doesn’t seem nearly as advantageous as the October 22 release date, but fans should note that an official release date delay hasn’t even been announced yet. It’s possible that plans could change, so Battlefield fans should take this information with a grain of salt for now.

While Henderson believes that the Battlefield 2042 release date is getting pushed back, it seems as though the beta may still be on track. Henderson previously leaked the Battlefield 2042 beta start date as being September 22, and he thinks that is still going to happen. Whether or not that’s the case remains to be seen, but fans should find out in the days ahead.

Battlefield 2042 is part of a busy season of FPS games, which includes the aforementioned Call of Duty: Vanguard and Halo Infinite, as well as October releases Back 4 Blood and Far Cry 6. Fans of the genre are going to have no shortage of options when it comes to new games, and with everyone having limited time, it will definitely be interesting to see which game reigns supreme when the dust settles.

If a Battlefield 2042 release date delay announcement is coming this week as expected, hopefully EA and DICE share the information with fans soon so they can adjust their launch day plans accordingly. In the meantime, fans should always take rumors and leaks like this with a grain of salt.

Battlefield 2042 is currently scheduled for release on October 22 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
